Long day today and tomorrow

OK Theresa began her day with an 11a.m. testing appointment. She did fairly well. She started almost following directions and answered more questions that I would have hoped for a year ago. She had a bit of a problem with arms and legs. It seems she doesn’t know them yet, it was kind of hard to tell with a picture of a teddy bear. I didn’t know that bears had arms, I always thought they were four legged creatures that had the ability to stand partially upright. By the end of the testing interview when it came time for me to answer questions that ear bleeding  rather high pitched scream was back.

This afternoon she had a half hour of speech that turned into mostly play time because she was so tired. She had worked hard this morning so the therapist gave her a break of sorts. After therapy she wanted to stay and play because the clinic had new toys I’d never noticed before.

Tomorrow we have her four year check up. I have to write down her supplements so that the doctor has them in front of him. I also have to get referrals sent to the doctor we say today and to the OT’s office, the referral she had expires tomorrow. I have to remember them or we can’t have either of those next appointments. All that’s left is to take the green sheet from the preschool teacher the day before the feedback session and we’ll be good to go.

Tomorrow after noon we have speech and ABA therapy. That’s going to be rather interesting to see how that goes. When school starts back it’s going to be even more interesting to figure out, she’ll have school, lunch, speech then ABA therapy.

Well, I’m tired just writing this so I’m gonna go. I haven’t decided if I’m gonna update the other two tonight or not.http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=workinga-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=B003N2H7IU&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr

Forgetfulness

I just realized this afternoon as I was making peanut butter and raisin cookies on demand for my four year old that I forgot to make her birthday cake this year. I wasn’t happy about that but I’ve decided that I’m going to make it after the first of the year. It’ll be a surprise to her. I just need some cake mix, icing and some decorations along with one candle.

I have gone over the budget, packed up old clothes that are too small for all of us and starting thinking about what I want to accomplish during the New Year. I’m hoping that 2011 will go better than 2010 did. I have four days left of nothing to do but I choose to do. The 3rd of January we start back with our regular therapy and the 10th my youngest goes back to preschool. I found one school holiday in January I just won’t know if it’s a therapy holiday until later in the month.

I have to redo the financial aid papers for ABA therapy soon. At least I think that I do. I’m wondering when I’ll have to start over with the classes to keep the financial aid again. Once a month an extra trip to the clinic. I’m hoping that I can afford to make the four that are required of the six.

I need to make some candles while I’m off from the regular routine. There are some I need to be burning today. The house feels better when they’re burning. I’m going for now but I’ll be back with more mindless ramblings to bore, entertain you with.

The appointment that wasn’t

Yesterday morning I got up at 5:30 to give myself time to have a cup of coffee, etc before I got Theresa up. Well, there wasn’t any running water and a cat let himself in through the vent. I thought the pipes were frozen and hoped nothing would bust. Wrong. The pump had cut itself off in the night, nice and expensive to repair or replace since I have no idea how to do either. Well of course the morning went on, Theresa got up and dressed, pretended to eat breakfast etc.

Well, when we went to leave I realized I didn’t have time to defrost the windows. So I’m out side in the cold without a coat while Theresa sits in the back seat as the truck warms up waiting on me to scrap the ice off my windows. I didn’t do a very good job and I noticed that my windshield had a crack all the way across in front of the lower half on the drivers side now instead of just a little chip from where the rock flew up and hit it. Fast forward we leave and I get down the road a bit before I decide that I have to stop and clean the windshield some more because I can’t see.

Well, windshield is clean and we’re on our way. Until I start to smell something and realize smoke is coming in through the gear shift. So we pull into a parking lot and call home. Hubby calls the office we’re going to and leaves a message with the answering service. About 15 minutes after we’re supposed to be there the same office calls to see if we’re on our way because they didn’t see the message yet. Work that out and wait on hubby with feet freezing. He locks himself out of the house before he can come check on us. Lovely.

Finally we get home go and go through rescheduling before discovering that the woman we were supposed to see decides she can use someone else’s results to draw her conclusions so we don’t have to wait so long for the results. Now I’m trying to get rid of things that no longer fit, are broken and I just don’t want to have less to do and save some money.

OK I’ve got articles in my head so I’m going to be going for now but I’ll be back to update the other two blogs later today. Some antifreeze would have saved me a lot of headache, remember to check yours! http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=workinga-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=B000GKTYNI&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr

One more payment coming, I think

Well, Helium’s recent changes are a bit annoying except for the twice a month payday. At the end of the month I’ll have at least the minimum $25 to request it maybe a tad more. That’ll cover one of my phone bills next month. Now to figure out how to cover the other one and everything else.

I guess that the rest of this month is going to be spent working since we have appointments just like it was any other time of year. I also have to figure out just how much work I have to do in order to get by. This is gonna be the most depressing thing I do this year.

The good news is that my kids have some form of Christmas. I guess in a couple years I can introduce them to homemade gifts. OK I’m exhausted so I’ll be going. The worst news is that the grocery budget for the upcoming year is up in the air.

Thursday again??

Hard to believe that it’s Thursday again. My days run together because of all the appointments that we have each week. We didn’t have any until today and hubby took Theresa. When he got home I had to call about the rescheduling of next week that they did. They were going to move her to 11a.m. which would have ended the appointment at 11:45 meaning that I would have to find something to do with her until her 1:30 speech or bring her all the way home to turn around and leave again. Getting out at 11:45 would put us home at 12:15 and we’d have to leave again at 1:00 to avoid being late. That’s two trips across town which I can’t afford. Well, they couldn’t find another day that would work so it was changed back to the 12:30 so it’ll let out at 1:15. That leaves me fifteen minutes to get her to her next appointment.

Tomorrow we only have ABA which starts at 10am and ends at 11:45 so the therapist can organize her data. Last week I had to go twice in the morning for speech and then back in the afternoon. I’m wondering if the people that rearrange appointments ever think of the finances of those that they’re changing appointments for.

I’m beginning to hate children’s songs. I’m glad that Theresa is learning the words to the songs but I do wish she didn’t like them so much. She’s been singing “Row Row Row your boat” repeatedly. At the moment I’d be eating a bowl of chili with half done beans because Hubby refused to start them before he put everything else in. I think I’m going to pour it in the crock pot so it’ll be done in the morning. I’m starving so I’ll eat it anyway. Well, it’s time to go search for jobs and try to start an article again.
