It’s definitely Monday

Well, I can tell it’s Monday already. Of course being as it’s half past noon I should know it’s Monday by now. I have been looking at the budget, yes I’m bringing it up again. I have the feeling that we’ll be scraping by on the skin of our teeth, cutting a few corners in the new year. The pest control is the first casualty since that’s $33 a month that we can see immediately as being used elsewhere or saved. The last is not likely for a few months.

I’m still trying to see how much electricity we used this month. The budget amount for the bill is $200 each month; the last bill showed that so far we have a credit of $76.34. That’s not too bad of course the summer hasn’t gotten here yet so there could still be an amount that we have to pay when the budget billing is reviewed. I’m tired of having to unplug behind everyone and I’d love to have a working dryer so the laundry didn’t pile up when it was cold or rainy.

I have to have Internet access to work which I haven’t done much of lately so I guess I can get a plan with limited access until I go back full time. The cable it’s a luxury that can be reduced to keep the cable bill down. OK I’m gone, this is getting depressing.

Only one thing eliminated so far

OK so I’ve been going over the budget and have found one item that we can eliminate so far. We can get rid of the pest control and buy the store solutions to prevent pests. That puts a whole $33 back into my budget. Not much but it’ll do. At least as a start. That $33 will buy approximately 3 packs of pull-ups a month until I can get Theresa potty trained.

A 55 cent bar of soap to wash dishes with saves approximately 45 cents before taxes are added. It’s not much but it’ll help. So far we have $33.45 less spent a month. I’m not making much progress here. Actually we’re up to $22.45 when you figure that we’ve been running short on pull-ups and using cloth at home lately to keep from running out and Theresa isn’t any closer to being potty trained than she was a year ago.

I have to find a prepaid option for my Internet so I can continue working and it can move with me. I have to cut off the cable completely and go back to the digital signal. That is provided I can find the wire to my outside antenna and then a small indoor antenna to watch television with so that we don’t do without television all together. We have a VCR and a DVD player that doesn’t have a remote so some disks don’t play right but I can watch DVD’s on my computer if I absolutely have to.

OK this has gone completely off topic so I’ll be back later.

My little family is almost enough

I say almost because my oldest and his oldest don’t live with us. It is just the two of us and Theresa, her sisters (one is almost grown) would complete the picture. I know both of them are miserable where they are. Well, not miserable but not as happy as they could be and that hurts.

I would love to move the three of us far away but that creates a problem. There is no way for us to be half way between the oldest two and visit either one of them we can’t afford it. We live off less than $15,000 a year yet I don’t understand reality according to those around me.

I’m still figuring out how to copy pages from Theresa’s workbooks. I have to make my schedule for the New Year so that I spend as much time working as possible without taking time away from her. Well, I have one more blog to update so I’ll be going for now.

Headaches and more headaches

I’ve had a headache since last night and it refuses to go away. At the moment I’m figuring out what we can cancel and get rid of in order to move. My goal is April but that might be pushing it. In the mean time I’m donating what we don’t need and putting up things I want to keep.

I’ve figured out that I can save a whole $33 by canceling the pest control since the problem that we started the service four is gone and shows no signs of returning. Hopefully if the wasp do come back it will be after we’ve move. My problem? Coming up with a deposit/rent and pet deposit in order to move us out of here.

I don’t want to stay here at all. I’m only down here because my oldest daughter is. I don’t like it here at all.

rambling once again

OK so it’s been an interesting day. Opening presents, doing laundry and dishes, arguing with a toddler when she has a tantrum because we touched her toys. Sharing is a concept that’s still a bit new to her. I think her nap wasn’t long enough but she was dry when she got up from it. We’ve worked on potty training some this week but I think whatever progress we’ve made is going to have to be started all over again during the next vacation.
I’ve been thinking about the things that we need and the things that I just want to buy. The two are getting confused in my mind so I have to make myself a nice long list for the next visit to the store. I need to leave off things that I don’t need but just want.

figuring out the new year

OK it’s Christmas Eve and I’m writing a blog post. That’s fine the baby has opened our gifts and played until she voluntarily took a nap. I’ve been going over the budget for the New Year the last few years and just filled out a report for SSI. I have come to the conclusion that I have to reduce expenses and increase my income at the same time.
I’m also working on the list for next Christmas so there isn’t the panic and I don’t give into going over budget. I’ve figured up next month’s bills based on the amounts this month. (Does not include household items or supplements as of yet.)
Light Bill (budget billing) $200
ABA (4/5 wk month) $12/$15 (co-pay for financial aid $3 week without financial aid $55 an hour)
Auto Insurance (based on last bill) $42.14
Cable Bill (Internet included – special) $79.51 (will go up in February, reduce ASAP)
Pest control $33 (cheaper and easier than buying constantly to ensure nothing outside is inside.
Stone Creek (debt) $20 (fixed amount, can be paid off eventually or at 70% of total)
Phones $21.80 each for two = $43.60
Those all total = $433.25 (That does not include $55 a week child support that is currently a bit behind because of increasing gas and grocery prices. I’ll have to figure the supplements later because she’s out of one of her prescriptions and I have to buy the supplements that she’s running out of when we go back to therapy. There is still that bottle of fish oil that I haven’t ordered yet.
Next Christmas is based on this Christmas, at least for Theresa since she’s going to need therapy tools again next year. There are a few things that she did not get today that I have to buy her through the year but they’ll be on the list for next year anyway.
Finger paints, paper, coloring books (can print out the pages), play dough. (We can make that as a craft day.)
8 pack play dough $1 for small cans of generic at Dollar Tree.
Puzzles (age appropriate and younger) donate to the local Autism clinic when done
Dry erase markers, chalk, erasers
What else? I’ll be going through her toys just like I went through her clothes and am going through ours to get rid of what she’s not using or just doesn’t want to use anymore. Weird to be making the therapy list now; strange thing is that I have a feeling I’m still gonna need organization and storage containers when I’m done.
The grocery budget just went down to $229 a month for the three of us. It’s a good thing that I took Theresa off the diet or we’d be way over budget for food. She doesn’t eat a lot unless she feels like it. Oh well, I’m tired so I’ll be going now I have two other blogs to update and I haven’t gotten all the details of the budget worked out I just know that it’ll take $50 to reopen a savings account and I have to get two oil changes after the first of the year. I also have to get new tires on my truck mid year. Hoping the tax return will help a little bit with that.

Christmas survived

Just a short post let everyone know how the holiday I dread the most is going so far. Well, there haven’t been any fatalities in the home so that’s a plus. Yes we’ve all survived this far. Theresa opened her gifts from us this morning, Christmas and birthday since she’ll have a total of at least three days opening presents tomorrow.
She loves the little dry erase/chalk board that Nanna got her and the one that stands up that we got her. Both are reusable and one travels for lessons or just occupying her on the road. She’s not ready to use the roll of paper just yet but that’s fine too that’ll give me time to figure out where to find another roll to replace it with. I think I’ll take the time to buy one or two rolls of wrapping paper on sale after the holidays even though I have three rolls left. I may just use gift bags next year, I have plenty of them.
She got two wooden puzzles with the pictures under them when she gets done I’m gonna preserve them and use them to decorate her room with. Or I may just use the tray the puzzle goes in and hang it up as a picture in her room. I know I want a jigsaw puzzle to preserve and hang as a picture as soon as I have somewhere to hang pictures again. Repairs have to be done first.
We’ll be starting the next year with a full therapy schedule and hopefully once in a while a day off for me. I plan to sit down and eat meals together at some point in 2011. I can’t focus so I’m going to odds and ends so that I can let my mind wander around.

I’ve Almost Survived the Christmas Season!

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve which means that the Christmas season is almost over and once again I have survived it! The rush for last minute presents for the spoiled,  precious children I have. The panic over not being sure what’s age appropriate for my children that are far from typical. The 18th I did all my Christmas shopping and stood in nice long lines to spend money I didn’t want to part with. Next year I vote that I have it all delivered to the house. My goal for this? I use Swagbucks.com to earn Swagbucks that I intend to use for gift cards to use at Amazon.com where I plan to order things that they need  want around the first of November 2011 to give me time to wrap them.

I think I’ll make a list of therapy supplies toys through the year for Theresa so I can keep up with what I’m buying her next year. My first purchase next month is going to be an ink refill kit for my printer though. http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=workinga-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=B00007IKKI&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifrThat way I can make copies of the workbook pages that she got this year so that she actually gets to use the pages.

We’ll let Theresa open her Christmas presents in the morning and she’ll open her presents from my mother Christmas Day. One present will be set aside for her to open on her birthday. You know Theresa doesn’t seem to notice if she has a birthday party or not and I can’t manage to organize one anymore so I think I’ll wait until next year when I’ve had time to plan and brace myself. She had a first and second birthday party, just no third or fourth. She had a Christmas party at school and she’ll have a Valentine’s day party in February. I have to get something for the kids and the teacher this time. I didn’t realize when the Christmas party was until the week of it.

OK Christmas is survived! I’m gone.
